The gold standard for golf in Northwest Indiana can be found in Crown Point at the White Hawk Country Club, named best golf course by readers of The Times and Shore magazine.
Mark DeJarlais, director of operations, says the results reflect the combination of style and quality found at White Hawk. "We're the only 36-hole facility that I know of in Northwest Indiana, and we're semi-private, so while we have member, we're also open to the public," he notes.
"We always make sure the fairways are tight, roll fast and true, and that the greens are manicured and maintained," adds Steve Snead, director of golf.
Beyond the course itself, DeJarlais adds that White Hawk "hosts quite a few events," such as weddings and holiday brunches. Its banquet facilities seat up to 240, and there are provisions for outdoor events as well.
