Rico hired as Times community online director
The Times Media Co. has hired Damian Rico to direct content development of its “community.com” websites, the first of which launched last week as CrownPointCommunity.com.
Among Rico’s many tasks as community online director will be building relationships with businesses, schools, governments and other groups to show them how they can get connected with others through The Times community.com websites, according to Times Publisher Bill Masterson Jr.
“Damian will not only be an asset to The Times Media Co., he will be an asset to the communities and businesses he works with by helping them to help themselves,” Masterson said.
Rico was most recently in business for himself as DR Consulting, a public relations firm that had the city of East Chicago as one of its clients. He has served other clients including industry, education and small business.
“My goal is to build as many relationships as possible and to make sure The Times community websites are a great success,” Rico said.
Developed with timely community news in mind, the community.com websites allow residents and organizations to join The Times staff in providing information and events to neighbors and friends on an all-encompassing website devoted to their community
“Damian will help The Times to further serve as the connective tissue for distributing information within the region’s communities,” Times Executive Editor William Nangle said.
Rico, 36, earned bachelor’s degrees in communications and clinical psychology from Purdue University. He has a master’s degree in business management from Indiana Wesleyan Unversity. He is a graduate of Bishop Noll Institute.
He lives in Schererville with his wife, Kari, and their four children.
