ArcelorMittal employees provide strength and support to Northwest Indiana on International Volunteer Day
As part of International Volunteer Day 2009 (recognized on Dec. 5), ArcelorMittal Burns Harbor held a coat drive in partnership with the local Boys & Girls Club of Porter County. In early December, several ArcelorMittal Burns Harbor employees delivered coats, hats and gloves for children. Employees delivered the donated items and then joined the children for lunch.
“Every child deserves a coat, gloves or hat to help them stay warm and healthy this time of year,” said Madhu Ranade, General Manager, ArcelorMittal Burns Harbor. “Together with USW Local 6787, ArcelorMittal is proud to be a long-standing partner of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Porter County and happy to provide this important organization with resources and volunteers, especially during the holiday season.”
The company recognizes International Volunteer Day each year in honor of the United Nations (UN) International Volunteer Day and hosts projects across the 60 countries where it operates.
