The Center for Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery provides personal care
Dr. Bethany Cataldi's family legacy continues a tradition of personal care and patient loyalty for treating disorders of the ear, nose, and throat

In winter 2006, the Center for Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery was established in northwest Indiana as a way to bring the region exceptional comprehensive ear, nose, and throat surgical services, as well as advanced facial plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery. The Center works in conjunction with Community Hospital Department of Audiology to provide comprehensive hearing services, including audiometric testing, middle ear complete hearing aid fittings and dispensing.

Dr. Bethany A. Cataldi, D.O., owner and operator of the Center for Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery, is committed to providing exceptional care and service in treating her patients and says that treating the whole person is critical to her high level of care. ³My philosophy in treating a patient is that treatment should be directed at not only the disease or pathology but also any social, environmental, and familial factors that may affect the patientıs care. Consequently, I spend as much time as necessary with each patient in my practice. I do not delegate any patient care or treatment to my support staff or an ancillary practitioner,² says Cataldi.

This level of care means the dedication and loyalty of her patients, who spread their satisfaction to other patients through referrals. ³I am grateful that existing patients will refer friends or family who have ear, nose, or throat or cosmetic surgery needs to me. I am grateful that referring physicians will refer patients to me. For individuals to direct other people they know to my office with their confidence that I will provide exceptional care for their patient, family member, or friend is very moving. It motivates me to strive to do my best at every opportunity to care for a patient. It really is a privilege for me to be able to provide care to the community in northwest Indiana,² Cataldi says.

Cataldi believes in her community, and giving back to her community. ³My practice gets involved with the community in northwest Indiana in many ways.

For instance, we have been involved in fundraising opportunities for the various schools in the area, and we have been proud to offer our sponsorship and support to the Town of Munster Department of Parks and Recreation and its annual Jazz and Blues Festival.

From a health care perspective, I am an ENT surgeon who has elected to participate in Indianaıs Medicaid program. In addition, my practice actively works with and supports the Community Foundation through Community Hospital in Munster and St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago. On a personal level, I am a strong supporter of research for finding a cure for breast cancer and I have participated in the annual Breast Cancer Network of Strength Motherıs Day Walk for over 12 years, as well as causes that help to fight heart disease,² she says.

Dr. Cataldi has a true commitment to the people of northwest Indiana.

Growing up in South Holland, Ill. and Schererville, Ind., Dr. Cataldi has a family history of medical care in the region, establishing her dedication to family and helping the health and quality of life of her patients. ³I suppose that medicine is in my DNA as well as in my siblingsı DNA. My father is Dr. William Cataldi, a family practice physician in Northwest Indiana for over 30 years who Iım proud to say is my inspiration and role model as a physician and a person. My younger sister, Dr. Nicole Cataldi is an obstetrics and gynecology physician in Crown Point, and my brother, Dr.

Christopher Cataldi, is a family practice physician in Wisconsin. We all follow our fatherıs model of compassionate care for our patients, but we simply work in different offices and specialties,² she says.

The Center for Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery, LLC will continue to bring exceptional service and dedication to the community for years to come, investing in our regionıs economy and technology of the industry. ³We would certainly like to continue our growth and development, and I believe that growth accompanies exceptional patient care. So I plan on continuing on a path of delivering the best care that I can for my patients. Of course I will continue to integrate new technologies and techniques into my practice as they become available. For example, we now offer fiber-optic laryngoscopy in my office with direct imaging of the larynx. In this way a patient can actually see their vocal cords or any associated pathology and I can provide them with a photographic print of what we can see. On the facial plastic/cosmetic area, a new cosmetic enhancement for eyelashes called LATISSE has become FDA-approved and is now available for patients. Whether itıs ear, nose, and throat or facial plastic/cosmetic care, if I can continue to have the wonderful privilege to care for my patients and see that my care is making a positive difference in their lives, ultimately thatıs all that really matters to me,² says Cataldi.
