Yeah, I think yard sales are for getting rid of stuff, not to make money. It bugs me when things are overpriced when I’m shopping at yard sales! I’m too lazy though to organize one for us. I just end of giving it all to Goodwill.

I always THINK I should do a yard sale. But it seems like a ton of work for not a lot of money. I just don’t ever feel like spending my day that way for things I don’t want anymore. I almost always end up just packing it off to Goodwill.

Oh my word, Yard sales are soooo much work!! I love getting rid of the things, but i hate the pricing and haggling and cleaning everything up afterward! It is about time for me and Dr. Chick to have one though… Yours looked like it was awesome!!

I had our first yard sale this past year (after having them every summer as a kid) and it was a lot of fun. We sold lots of things that we had sitting around after we moved here last year. This house was a bit smaller than our last just by one bedroom and a little bit of other space, so we definitely had our fair share of stuff. My husband was in love with it-after we got going. He could talk and socialize and it was just his thing to see our house get rid of that clutter! It seemed like a perfect yard sale day!!

I have been saving all of our unused stuff to have a garage sale for almost a year and I meant to do it all summer and we were crazy busy and I just didn’t. And now what will happen - like it usually does - is one day in the next month or so the stuff with start to drive me crazy because it is sitting there and not going anywhere and taking up space and I cannot get everything clean enough because this stuff is there so I will donate it to the local salvation army or something. But I have so much good stuff… sigh.

I have had a couple but really I don’t make enough money to warrant all the stress they put me under to have one. But once every 5 years or so a friend will convince me its a great idea and we host one and I make $20 and they make a ton more and I go a bit crazier….we don’t need that…LOL!

Oh, I’m right with you. The first year we had a garage sale, I had such a tough time, gave much away and felt awkward and awful when someone asked “what’ll ya take?”.

The second time I had a “donation garage sale”. I put everything out on the lawn/driveway with a big FREE sign and advertised me FREE sale in the papers. I then put a little piggybank on a table with a little note that said, “donations welcome; money will go to the church children’s ministry.” Chloe took a huge bag of money into Sunday School the following week. I think we made far more in donations that went to a good cause that I would have made selling it!

And yes, I like to shop yard sales and I know what I like to pay; as little as possible!! LOL

Ooh I LOVE having yard sales! I love getting all of those things out of the house — it’s freeing!!

(And then I go and buy lots at other yard sales to fill the house back up…)
