Early Saturday morning, right after our awesome big breakfast of homemade egg Mckmuffins and hashbrowns, I had each of the kids sign their Valentines. I did not want to wait until the last minute for this - with three kids in school and 30 Valentines for each of them… we got it done!
Of course it’s been impossible to avoid seeing everyone’s suggestions for DIY Valentines on Pinterest and Facebook but I didn’t even give it a thought. Target had Angry Birds Valentines! And Lego Star Wars! Much easier and cooler, right? Oh my goodness. Not very.
I had to separate all 90 of those things, on the perforated lines, then fold them, then help the kids insert each little mini tattoo or sticker or whatever they had with them.
Thankfully this year they could address and sign their own. But still. Maybe making our own next year will be smarter? How do you do your Valentines?

Ah, Valentine’s Day. It’s here. And to be honest the most exciting part this year for me has been preparing my boys for their parties at school and seeing what treats they bring home, even though I still can’t eat anything. Which is also why hubby and I have vowed to celebrate at a later date- when I can, like, take a shower and actually go somewhere that smells like food.
Apparently many couples choose “Valentine’s Weekend” over the official “Valentine’s Day” and that gives you a bit more time to be last minute (and I’d imagine get some pretty good deals the day after V-day at Target & Walgreens- hello 90% off boxed chocolates!)
So, if you are still looking for some ideas for your man, here’s some affordable suggestions:

Speaking of Target, you can find Every Man Jack body products there- they smell great!- and there’s even a special Valentine’s 4-piece gift set for only $16. And trust me, this stuff looks expensive. Such a great deal.
Before I go on, I am realizing… who am I kidding? Do you really get your hubby more than a card- if that? Is he the only one supposed to give a gift? Isn’t this holiday all about the women? I am so out of practice here. I think maybe once I made a mixed CD for my hubby… I also think that the best gift I could give him now would be to take that shower.
So- do you give your man a Valentine’s present- and if so- what?? And if you’re a guy, do you really want anything we buy or make?
