For years Alexis and her friend would play through the fence having the best time even with their lack of the same language. I teach a bilingual pre-school class. About half of the students speak only English and the other half speak only Spanish. I love to sit back and watch how well they can all interact with each other. So true! We had the same situation in our old neighborhood (we recently relocated across country). Huge cultural difference between our neighbors and the kids barely spoke English when we all first moved in 8 years ago. Even so, our kids became the.best.of.friends. It was beautiful to watch and music to my hears to hear their laughing while they played. It was absolutely heartbreaking when we had to move last summer.
