Five Alive

Today, our five year old daughter graduates from preschool. Which honestly, I thought was fun and cute and we bought her an amazing dress to wear and cute sandals, but it wasn’t that big of a deal to me, I mean, it’s preschool graduation.

And then I realized…

It’s Preschool Graduation.

That this five year old daughter of ours, is FIVE.

Not 4. or 3 or 2 or 1. She’s no longer an infant. She’s five. And wow, I honestly do not know where these five years have gone. I know there has been an abundance of laughter and tears, we’ve had naughty corners and time-outs, we have watched her dance and play, we have watched this girl become HER.

She knows what she loves, High School Music, Hannah Montana, she loves to dress up but she also loves to let ants crawl on her, she’s adventurous and funny, she loves spinach, barbecue sauce and every fruit out there except pineapples.

We know she loves to sing, but she’s shy when she does, so in the car she looks out the window and sings.

We know she adores her family. And every single day, I take her in. Her smile, her sparkly eyes, her soft skin, her love, her attitude, just her.

And so today, we celebrate her graduation, but we are also going to celebrate Her.

There is so much to celebrate, I want to do it slowly and feel every second, because time seems to be flying away and pretty soon, this girl, will be riding off into the sunset, on her own with memories that we are creating right now. Everyday is just so significant. And amazing.
