Sheri Anderson was promoted to relationship management associate of Mercantile Bank Commercial Banking Group in the Valparaiso South Office. Anderson also serves on the board of directors for the Duneland Family YMCA and the Porter County Builders Association.

Christy Adney was promoted to residential sales manager of the Northwest Indiana Mortgage Region of Harris/Mercantile Bank. Adney will cover the Porter County market and work with new loan originators and is an active member of the Porter County Builders Association and the Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce.

Joyce Shroka, manager of Business Continuity & Technical Services at NiSource, Inc., was accepted as a Certified Business Continuity Professional by the Disaster Recovery Institute International Certification Commission.

Rene Martin has been named relationship manager of Mercantile Bank's Commercial Banking Group at the Valparaiso South office. Martin’s responsibilities will include commercial lending and product sales to middle market businesses in Northwest Indiana. Martin currently serves on the Board of Directors for both Tradewinds Rehabilitation Center and Miller Citizens Corporation.

McDaniel Fire Systems has hired four new employees. They are:

Daniel Raap, director of sales, will lead the sales efforts for all McDaniel’s fire protection systems including automatic sprinkler, special hazards and fire detection and alarm systems. He will also develop a comprehensive preventive maintenance and service program for customers.

Greg Mittelstadt, client sales representative of the Valparaiso branch, will focus on growing the alarm and detection business by cultivating relationships with owners, developers and engineers.

Charlie Powell, Indianapolis branch manager, will lead the expansion efforts in central Indiana for the sprinkler and fire alarm product lines.

Viki Gudas, marketing and communications analyst, will direct the marketing efforts for McDaniel, including developing promotional strategies for new markets, increasing the awareness of McDaniel products and managing communications for the brand.

Bridgett J. Repay has joined the law firm of Sachs and Hess, P.C., which has offices in Hammond and Schererville. Repay will focus her practice of personal injury, worker's compensation and medical malpractice cases.

Edward J. Calderaro has joined the law firm of Sachs and Hess, P.C., which has offices in Hammond and Schererville. He will focus his practice in family law, criminal law and general practice areas.

Tom Smoker was named top listing sale associate of the month at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Valparaiso. Smoker is a long-time Valparaiso resident and is a 14 year veteran of residential real estate sales.

Roxanne Gottleber was named top selling and top volume sales associate of the month at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Valparaiso. Gottleber is a lifetime resident of Northwest Indiana and a former manager of two Coldwell Banker offices.

Curt and Katie Masson have returned to Northwest Indiana as representatives for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans in Valparaiso. Both Massons are graduates of Chesterton High School and Ball State University.

Glenn Wagner, administrator of the waters of Duneland, was elected to the board of directors for Indiana Health Care Association. Wagner has been involved with IHCA since 1983 and this is the second time he has served on the board of directors.
