INSIDE INDIANA BUSINESS: McRobbie to be inaugurated as IU president

Indiana University will inaugurate Michael McRobbie today as its 18th president. More than 400 delegates, led by eight presidents from other colleges and universities in Indiana and Grand Marshal Edwin Marshall, will walk in a procession to the IU Auditorium for the official ceremony. Representatives from at least 10 international universities will be a part of the delegation.

Indianapolis incubator goes to California firm

The Indianapolis Enterprise Center has been sold to an undisclosed California firm. Scott Meyers, who owned the center, says he sold it to devote more time to his growing self-storage business and two other start-up companies he owns. Meyers says he will remain as interim executive director until a replacement can be found.

Anderson business incubator opens doors

The Anderson Business Incubator will have an open house today. The incubator, which opened 10 months ago, is home to several companies, including a silk-screening business, debt collection and limousine service.

Senators urge action on foreclosure prevention

Ten members, including U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, are asking U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulsen to devote more resources to helping homeowners facing foreclosures. A letter to Paulsen urges him to devote "at least as much energy" to helping homeowners as he did in creating a facility to help bail out banks.

Dow AgroSciences wins top honors

Indianapolis-based Dow AgroSciences LLC has been named a winner in the AGROW Awards competition. The international competition recognizes corporate and individual excellence in the crop protection and production industry. Dow Agrosciences's EcoZome received the 2007 Best Formulation Innovation award. The company was also named a finalist in four other categories.
