PREP REPORT
Katie Hannagan threw a perfect game in not so perfect weather on Tuesday as Times No. 3 Crete-Monee beat Thornridge 16-0 in a SICA crossover game.
It was the Warriors' second no-hitter in as many days as Amber Welsh no-hit Thornton on Monday. Ashlie Ristau had three RBIs for Crete (5-3, 4-0 SICA South). Sam Dudzinski had a double and two singles while Melissa Giannantonio had a double and a single.
Bloom Twp.-T.F. South to continue: The game was suspended Tuesday due to rain with the Rebels leading 5-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning. The game will continue where it left off at 4:30 p.m. today.
Jaynie Danielewski allowed one hit and struck out seven. Susie Danielewski had a two-run homer and an RBI single.
Baseball
T.F. South-Bloom Twp. to continue: The two will pick up today in the top of the third inning with a scoreless tie.
Tuesday's game was suspended after two innings due to rain.
T.F. South's Eric Meyerchick struck out five and had a no-hitter when the game was stopped. Bloom Twp.'s Trace Capps allowed just one hit.
Girls Soccer
Bloom Twp. 6, Thornton Twp. 0: Jordan Wallek's hat trick led the Blazing Trojans to the SICA win.
Lucento Perez had three assists and Pamela Pacheco had a goal and two assists.
Crete-Monee 5, Thornton Fractional 1: Chelsea Brown's goal was the lone score for Thornton Fractional (2-3, 1-3) in the SICA loss.
Boys Volleyball
Illiana Christian 25-22-28, Nazareth Academy 22-25-26: Justin Ooms had seven kills and Rick Buteyn had 26 assists to lead the Vikings (2-2) past the Roadrunners.
Keith Haan had six kills.
News and Notes
Lenti inducted: Mt. Carmel coach Frank Lenti was recently inducted into the Illinois Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Lenti was the 2007 Lawless Award winner for the best coach in the Catholic League. He has been the Caravan's head coach since 1984 and is 272-44 and has won nine state titles as head coach. He was an assistant on the 1980 team which won a state title. Mt. Carmel has made 22 straight playoff appearances, won 15 Catholic League titles and three Prep Bowls.
"I accept it on behalf of the Mt. Carmel family, the coaches, the Carmelites, the players," Lenti said. "I am just the faculty representative. We all work together at Mt. Carmel."
