Times Staff Report

Trace Capps was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and he struck out 12 in leading Times No. 5 Bloom Twp. to a 10-2 SICA South baseball win over No. 4 Crete-Monee on Tuesday.

Capps also scored three runs and Jake Tilton had two RBIs for the Blazing Trojans (6-4, 4-1). Phil Striggow's two-run homer accounted for all of the Warriors' runs as they fell to 7-5 and 3-2, respectively.

T.F. South 20, Thornton 0 (5 inn.): Ben Fredbloom was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored as the Times No. 3 Rebels (9-3, 5-0) rolled in the SICA East.

Nick Bonarigo was 2-for-2 with a double, a home run and two RBIs. Joe LaBella was 2-for-2 with three RBIs, and Mike Ustanik was 2-for-2 with a double, a triple, four RBIs and two runs scored.

T.F. North 16-14, St. Francis deSales 3-1: The Meteors (3-7) pounded out 19 hits in sweeping the Pioneers (1-7).

Alvaro Calderon was 3-for-3 with three RBIs in the opener and Ben Israel had two doubles. In the nightcap, Miguel Sandoval struck out nine in throwing a complete game.

Mt. Carmel 12, Fenwick 3: Tony O'Shea was 4-for-4 with a double, a triple and four RBIs as the Times No. 1 Caravan (12-3, 3-0) beat the Friars in Catholic League Blue.

Harry Kammholz was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and three RBIs.

Illiana Christian 10, Marian Catholic 2: Drew Eads had a three-run homer in the fifth and Shane Colvin had a two-run homer to lead the Times No. 2 Vikings (4-1) past the Spartans (5-2).

Seton Academy 14, Washington 4 (5 inn.): Steven Jackson (4-0) struck out six and had a double and two RBIs as the sting (6-3) stole eight bases in their win over the Minutemen at Gouwens Park.

Adam Bates-Moore and Charles Bolden had three stolen bases each. Toryan Smith and Jordan Jones had two hits each.



Softball

T.F. South 17, Thornton 0 (5 inn.): Susie Danielewski and Sam Sciackitano had two hits each and Miranda Hill threw a two-hit shutout as the Times No. 5 Rebels (10-3, 5-0) remained in first place in the SICA East.

Danielewski had four RBIs while Sciackitano had a double, a triple and scored four runs. Hill struck out 10 and walked none.

Thornwood 19, Thornridge 4 (5 inn.): Asia Campbell had two hits and three RBIs as the Thunderbirds (8-6, 3-4) scored all their runs in the first three innings of their SICA East win over the Falcons (0-5 SICA East).

Tiffany Stewart and Tyler Dunn had three hits each.



Girls Soccer

Thornton Fractional 1, Rich Central 0: Ariel Sanchez's goal lifted Thornton Fractional (3-6, 2-3) to the SICA win over the Olympians (1-4 SICA).



Boys Track

Chicago Christian triangular; Pat Sons won the 110 high hurdles (17.3) and the 300 intermediates (44.97) as the Vikings won with 85 points over Chicago Christian (51 points) and Timothy Christian (39).

Sons has not lost an intermediate hurdles race all season.

Girls Track

Chicago Christian triangular; Lynne DeYoung won the 100 high hurdles (16.25) and the 300 low hurdles (50.33) as Illiana Christian won with 80 points over Timothy Christian (51 points) and Chicago Christian (34).

Crystal Vander Zee won the triple jump (35-10).



Boys Tennis

Thornton Fractional 4, Crete-Monee 1: Thornton Fractional (3-3) won both singles and two doubles matches in its win over the Warriors.

Victor Villegas and Trent Moore won at singles while the tandems of Deon Randle and Josh Kivo, and George Estrada and Bill Anderson also won. Crete-Monee's Michael Nelson and Patrick Whiterro won at No. 2 doubles.
