HARVEY

Lubricant company acquires Indy firm

FUCHS Lubricants Co. and its parent, Fuchs Petrolub AG, have acquired MS Fluid Technologies of Indianapolis.

FUCHS is a global manufacturer and supplier of specialty lubricants and chemicals to the metalworking industries. MS Fluid Technologies has been a provider of high tech synthetic lubricant and cleaning solutions to customers who manufacture components for autos, trucks, appliances and other industries for 40 years.

FUCHS hopes the acquisition will complement the company's existing line of forming lubricants and process cleaners.

HOBART

Group hosts safety seminar Oct. 9

The Northwest Indiana Business Roundtable will host a safety seminar at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 9 at the Avalon Banquet Center, 3550 E. U.S. 30.

There will be a drug policy update and seminars on arc flash and general rigging safety, presented by experts in each field.

The program is free to NWIBRT subscribers and $12 for non-subscribers. Attendance fee for this function will be applied to 2008 subscribership to NWIBRT.

MICHIGAN CITY

Entrepreneur center hosts sessions

The Entrepreneur Center Michigan City, 422 Franklin St., will be offering introduction to QuickBooks training sessions from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Oct. 9 and 16. This two session seminar covers the following topics: How to create your company, working with bank accounts, using other accounts in QuickBooks, entering sales and invoices, receiving payments, making deposits and entering and paying bills.

QuickBooks advanced training will also be offered from 1 4:30 p.m. Oct. 9 and 16. This two session seminar covers the following topics:

-- Session 1: tracking time, doing payroll with QuickBooks, managing sales tax, analyzing financial data with custom reports. -- -- -- Session 2: managing inventory, estimates & advanced invoicing, customizing QuickBooks and creating letters, labels & envelopes with QuickBooks.
