1 man agrees to plea in LaPorte shooting spree
Sentencing is scheduled Oct. 22 for a Rolling Prairie man accused in the shootings of more than 70 windows in LaPorte in one night.
Andrew Thode, 19, pleaded guilty Wednesday in LaPorte Circuit Court to criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.
Under terms of the plea, Thode would be placed on 90 days probation and must pay $5,061 to three of the victims to cover their losses.
The other suspect, Michael Shore, 20, of Rolling Prairie, has a status hearing in his case scheduled for Nov. 13.
In late February, police said the two men in a five-hour period shot windows out of more than 70 vehicles and several businesses.
According to police, the major break in the case developed when investigators learned a BB gun and ammunition were recently bought at Wal-Mart and a store clerk knew the names of both men who made the purchase.

Ex-Michigan City cop facing more trouble
Former Michigan City Police officer Brad Stormer could be in trouble with the law again for allegedly violating terms of the Indiana Sex Offender Registry for the second time since the summer.
Warrants are being sought for the arrest of the 47-year-old Stormer on failure to register and sex offender residing within 1,000 feet of a school, both felonies, according to LaPorte County Police.
Police said Stormer had moved from Kingsford Heights to 302 G St. in LaPorte, but the sex offender registry did not reflect the change in address.
The other charge stems from his LaPorte home being less than 300 feet from Maple City Montessori School, a licensed day care facility.
In June, Stormer was charged another Class D felony for living too close to Kingsford Heights Elementary School.
In 2000, Stormer was given two years of probation and ordered to register as a sex offender until 2013 for Class D felony child seduction.
Stormer resigned as a patrolman with the Michigan City Police Department soon after the charges came to light.

Fundraiser basketball game set for Sunday
A team of former college basketball players are scheduled to take the hardwood at LaPorte High School as a fundraiser.
The Harlem Ambassadors will compete against a team put together by the Rotary Club of LaPorte.
The Colorado-based squad performs internationally year-round with a message for children to stay off drugs and stay in school, said Mike Arnett, coach of the 20 member Rotary Club of LaPorte team.
Tip off Sunday is at 4 p.m.
Tickets at the door are $10 for adults and $7 for senior citizens and children.
Arnett said the goal of the Rotary Club is to raise $5,000 from the event to purchase shoes for local needy children.
