The following programs are being hosted by Munster Parks and Recreation. Registration is required unless otherwise noted and can be done at 1005 Ridge Road. For information, call (219) 836-PARK.
Voice-over work
You don’t have to be an actor to get voice-over work. Voice-over artist Lisa Foster will demonstrate voice-over techniques and introduce students to the voice-over business from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 6. She will talk about the opportunities, income potential, the all-important demo and how to have it produced. Participants will also get to practice recording and hear the results. Fee is $50.
Cedar Creek Christmas
Visit Cedar Creek Settlement in Cedarburg, Wisc., on Dec. 12 for Christmas shopping in the shops and studios of the Old Wittenberg Woolen Mill. Later participants will enjoy lunch at the Alpine Village Restaurant and tour the Pabst Mansion for its annual Grand Avenue Christmas celebration. Motorcoach transportation and lunch are included. Bus will depart from the Munster Community Pool Parking Lot, 8837 Calumet Ave. Registration deadline is Nov. 7. Fee is $75 for residents and $80 for nonresidents.
Chicago trip
On Dec. 7, see the spectacular Chicago Christmas Lights, visit the colorful Christkindlmarket at Daley Plaza to shop for holiday crafts, and see and hear the magic of the holidays come alive at Navy Pier for the annual Christmas display. Attendees will have a late lunch/early dinner at Lawry’s Prime Rib and take a narrated guided tour of the Christmas Lights and the Magnificent Miles Lights Festival along Michigan Avenue. This trip is from 2 to 8 p.m. and has motorcoach transportation. Fee is $75 for residents and $80 for nonresidents.
Shopping treasures
On Nov. 14, holiday shop at Little Traveler, located in Geneva, Ill. This Italianate Victorian residence opened for business in 1922. Consisting of 36 rooms and filled with treasures from around the world, Little Traveler is a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. The motorcoach bus only trip is from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. It's $30 for residents, $35 nonresidents.
The Promenade Bolingbrook
Located in Bolingbrook, Ill., the Promenade Bolingbrook is a pedestrian-friendly gathering place for shopping and dining. This open air shopping district features specialty shops. At 6 p.m., before departing for home, there will be a light show on the village green consisting of 250,000 lights dancing to music. There is also a singing Christmas tree. The trip is from 12:15 to 7:15 p.m. Nov. 21. Fee is $32 residents, $37 nonresidents.
