Inside INdiana Business had learned Ontario Systems LLC in Muncie has laid off more than 120 employees, a little more than one fourth of its work force. The management software solutions provider had employed more than 450. A source close to the company said sales have been down.
Celadon purchases Arkansas trucking firm
Indianapolis-based Celadon Group Inc. said one of its subsidiaries has purchased Continental Express Inc. for approximately $24 million. The deal includes 1,100 trailers and 400 tractors from the Arkansas-based company. Celadon said the purchase follows the pattern established in other acquisitions over the past six years to broaden its customer base and gain experienced drivers.
Indianapolis Business Technology announces acquisition
Indianapolis-based KSM Business Technology said it is purchasing consulting and network services firm Digitech Inc. President and Founder of Digitech Brandon Beale will manage KSMBT's expanded network services group, including all former Digitech employees. Digitech provides technology support for mid-sized businesses.
Eight communities receive Artisan Trail Development Grants
Indiana Artisan Trail Development Grants, totaling $75,000, have been handed out to eight communities. The grants provide funding for the development of trails, or geographic clusters of related businesses and attractions, that promote Indiana artisans with an emphasis on tourism. Grantees that received $10,000 include the Northern Indiana Tourism Development Commission, Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau and Southwestern Indiana By Hoosier Hands Trail.
