VALPARAISO
Cops: Man possessed large amount of pot
Valparaiso police said a routine traffic stop resulted in an officer finding a large amount of marijuana at 2:37 a.m. Thursday on northbound Ind. 49, at LaPorte Avenue.
The driver, Lysander Jackson, 33, who has listed addresses in Valparaiso and Gary, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and driving while suspended.
Police said they stopped Jackson because his license plate was expired, a tail light wasn't working and because he twice crossed the fog line while driving. Police said they arrested him because of the suspended license, then found 107 grams of marijuana in his van.
