Gary man shot dead

A 23-year-old Gary man was shot dead there early Tuesday morning.

Michael Thomas of the 1300 block of Garfield Street was pronounced dead at 1:05 a.m. in the 1600 block of W. 12th Avenue in Gary, a spokeswoman for the Lake County coroner's office said.

The cause of death was listed as multiple gunshot wounds.

Gary police were not immediately available for comment early Tuesday morning.
