NIPSCO gas cost drops

The price NIPSCO customers pay for natural gas will drop 12.2 percent this month when compared to last month, due to a drop in the utility's gas cost adjustment.

A typical NIPSCO customer using 50 therms of natural gas can expect a bill decrease of approximately $13.61 from the July bill, according to the utility. Individual bill amounts will depend on a customer's actual usage.

The gas cost adjustment is subject to approval by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. It fluctuates with changes in the wholesale price of natural gas. It is applied to the gas supply charge in customer bills.

In addition to the gas supply charge, customers also pay a gas delivery charge and state and local taxes.
