GARY | United States Steel Corp. is holding an open house at Indiana University Northwest Wednesday to provide information and answer questions about a draft water permit at its Gary Works site.

The open house will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the university's Library Conference Center at 3400 Broadway.

There will be a short speech from U.S. Steel representatives and information for the public to view and technical experts there to answer questions related to the 2009 Draft National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit. Gary Works General Manager Sharon Owen is scheduled to attend the event.

The event is separate from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management's Nov. 18 hearing on the permit.
