MUNSTER | Those who frequented Stones' Bones over the past decade have enjoyed much more than ribs from Chef Phillipe Joseph, who has been known to prepare steak au poivre or rack of lamb when requested.

Now, Joseph is taking his culinary chops to a Schererville storefront and will shutter Stones' Bones on June 22.

He plans on opening Phillipe's Catering & Deli Carryout at 2033 Cline Ave. before Stones' Bones closes. The new business will be on the southwest corner of U.S. 30 and Cline in the retail center which houses Gator's fitness club and the boutique Monarch.

"It's sad a little bit, but it's time for a change," Joseph said. "I'm excited about this new venture. I'll have no break. ... I'm going straight to the catering business."

Phillipe's will feature many of Joseph's signature dishes, including his popular, homemade soups. Deli items will include Boar's Head Meats.

"Our catering menu will be very open from gourmet to simple. We'll still be open to requests," he said.

Joseph believes he will have more control over his overhead costs as a caterer. Over the past three and a half years, Joseph said, business had stagnated at the Munster restaurant.

"We had a good run. We've had a wonderful, loyal client base," he said.
