Really Cool Foods to create more than 1,000 jobs
Really Cool Foods, a natural and organic prepared foods company, has announced that it will invest $100 million to build a national production and distribution center that will create more than 1,000 jobs in Cambridge City. The center will supply the company's growing network of food retailers throughout North America. Really Cool Foods will join Taconic Farms, Inc. and DOT Foods in the Gateway Industrial Park.

ideas on property taxes
The Indiana Chamber of Commerce has released a statewide poll that shows that 56 percent of respondents feel the state's property tax situation is a crisis and 34 percent say it is an important issue. The survey of 800 registered voters also shows that nearly half don't realize that property tax revenues mainly fund local government budgets. Chamber President Kevin Brinegar says 46 percent of those polled incorrectly said state government spending is causing property taxes to increase.
Auto parts supplier
to close Indiana plant
International Automotive Components Group North America says it will close its manufacturing plant in Edinburgh by the second quarter of 2008. The move will put about 400 people out of work. The Edinburgh facility supplies components to General Motors and Chrysler. The company says it will work with local union officials to make a "smooth transition for employees."
Auto parts maker to
consolidate operations
Automotive parts manufacturer PMG Indiana Corp. has confirmed that it will consolidate its Midwest operations to Columbus and create 73 new jobs. The company says it will invest $11 million to relocate its Ohio-based production and research and development operations to a facility adjacent to its current production facility in Columbus.

OmniSource to merge
Fort Wayne-based Steel Dynamics Inc. says it will acquire OmniSource Corp. for more than $1 billion. Steel Dynamics says it will consolidate its existing scrap operations in Virginia and Tennessee into OmniSource, as well as its planned scrap processing facility in Indianapolis. OmniSource is also based in Fort Wayne.
WellPoint realigns
its operations
Indianapolis-based WellPoint Inc. has announced a restructuring of its business. The company says it will now be structured around commercial and consumer business units. WellPoint also is adding a new comprehensive health solutions business to the company.
Indy 500 winner to
get financial boost
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway says the 2008 winner of the Indianapolis 500 could receive at least $2.5 million in prize money, with the total purse increasing to $13.4 million. The IndyCar Series is also changing its earnings distribution for next year, awarding a minimum of $1.2 million to each car that competes for the entire season.
Company halts work
on ethanol plant
South Dakota-based VeraSun Energy Corp. says it is suspending construction of an ethanol biorefinery in Reynolds, also known as BioTown USA, due to market conditions. The company says it expects to resume construction in 2008, if market conditions improve.
Shipshewana to open
3 new attractions
Shipshewana officials say they have set out to attract visitors of all ages and as they open three new attractions they hope to do just that. A triple grand opening was held this week for the Splash Universe Water Park Resort, the Shipshewana Town Center and Hostetler's Hudson Auto Museum. The museum features the world's largest collection of Hudson antique automobiles.
