Health center celebrates 15 years
The Community Health Center of La Porte Hospital, 400 Tee Garden St., will celebrate 15 years of caring for the community 3 p.m. Oct. 20. A new announcement about the center will be made,
The public is invited to join the celebration and learn more about the Community Health Center's past, present and future, as well as tour the current facility.
The Community Health Center began in 1993 with four employees located inside a 2,000-square foot building
It has continued to provide quality medical care to La Porte County individuals with low income and no health insurance throughout the years. As the center cared for more and more families each year, the center doubled in size with the addition of La Porte County Dental Services in 1999.

Methodist to host two open houses
Methodist Hospitals is holding open houses to celebrate the five-year anniversary of the Gamma Knife Center in Merrillville Oct. 16 and 23.
The events, which will include tours, refreshments, informational booths, and giveaways, are open to the public and will be held at the Center for Advanced Clinical Studies, 200 E. 89th Ave.
The Oct. 16 open house will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by a physician seminar focused on treating brain tumors with the gamma knife from 6 to 7 p.m. On Oct. 23, a physician seminar focused on facial pain symptoms and treatment with the gamma knife will run from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The open house will follow the seminar from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
