Dyer company uses unique method for generating aqua
Imagine producing an endless supply of pure drinking water out of thin air while you're also cleaning and dehumidifying that air you breathe in your home or business.
Sounds like a science fiction saga set centuries in the future, doesn't it? But one Northwest Indiana man says he can deliver on that with a device called "an atmospheric water generator" that "produces pure drinking water by blending science and nature."
Manufactured by a Florida company, this American-made "go green, drink clean" generator "draws moisture from the air through a condensation process," said Marc Roy, of Dyer, master distributor of WaterPure in 11 states from Michigan to Texas.
"The moisture goes through a six-stage filtration process that uses ultraviolet light as the last process to kill off bacteria. It uses no chemicals. What's produced is 99.9 percent pure drinking water," he said.
The earth's atmosphere regularly contains massive quantities of water, Roy said. Even in desert climates with low humidity and during drought conditions in areas around the world, water is present in the air.
Because the generator filters and purifies the water it extracts from the air, "you never have to worry about drinking unsafe water," Roy said.
Water coming from the generator costs 8 to 14 cents per gallon, he said. Other sources, including tap water and bottled water, run between $1.25 and $4 a gallon.
The atmospheric generator also preserves natural resources because no water source other than air is needed, Roy said.
"Those five-gallon bubblers that are delivered to homes and business weigh 40 pounds each and have to be replaced," he said. "They're hard to pick up and put into place. With the WaterPure system, there's no delivery of water bottles and less delivery trucks on the road."
