Sports bar kicks off with Bears game tonight
SCHERERVILLE | The region's third Buddy & Pals Place is scheduled to open this afternoon in Schererville.
The bar, with locations in Crown Point and Winfield, is set to open the new location in what used to be Second Dimensions at 340 E. U.S. 30.
"Someone told me, 'Go west, young man,'" owner Tim Heidbreder joked. "For some reason, I never listened. Since I'm running out of time to be young, I'm headed west."
The newest Buddy & Pals is scheduled to open at 4 p.m. for the Chicago Bears game against the New Orleans Saints. Kickoff is 7:15 p.m.
Heidbreder said he is not closing on the property until March but will be taking over on a management contract. The bar will reopen with several minor upgrades.
Buddy & Pals' Schererville location will be a sports bar with free nightly entertainment and no cover charge.
Texas Hold 'Em will be held every third Monday night, Heidbreder said.
The bar with a neighborhood feel will be open weekdays from 4 p.m. to close and weekends from noon to close.
"We are so excited we are losing sleep at night thinking about the opportunity of heading west," Heidbreder said. "We are furthering our horizons."
