A CleanEnergy Forum in Reynolds on Thursday will focus on making homes, farms and small businesses more energy efficient, helping the environment and potential green energy jobs. The latest forum is sponsored by Workforce Innovations in Regional Economic Development. Simple methods of energy efficiency will be addressed like recycling, switching light bulbs and adjusting the thermostat.
Indiana steel casting company to expand
The Harrison Steel Castings Co. is expanding its production facility in Fountain County and hiring 10 workers. The supplier of steel tractor and heavy machine castings will modernize its manufacturing equipment and upgrade its production facility in Attica, located about 25 miles southwest of Lafayette. Harrison Steel Castings plans to begin hiring machinists and maintenance associates later this year to add to its workforce of nearly 900.
Waste-to-Energy plant planned for Wabash County
Florida-based International Power Group and ForeverGreen Enterprises of New Jersey have announced a joint venture to place a $227 million dollar waste-to-energy plant in the Wabash County community of LaFontaine. Construction is expected to take 22 months. Once complete, the plant is expected to process up to 750 tons of industrial, chemical and medical wastes per day.
Indiana RV supplier to shut down
Flexsteel Industries Inc. (Nasdaq: FLXS) is closing its RV seating manufacturing facility in the Elkhart County community of New Paris and another in Pennsylvania. Approximately 250 employees will be affected over the next two to three months. Products currently manufactured in the Northeastern Indiana facility will be transitioned to Flexsteel's headquarters in Dubuque, Iowa. The company expects to shut down operations November 9.
