NWI Hispanic chamber to host luncheon

The newly formed Northwest Indiana Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is hosting a networking luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 22 in the Celebrity East Ballroom at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza in Merrillville.

The group's mission is to advocate, promote and facilitate economic opportunities for Hispanic/Latino businesses in the region, as well as to serve as a link to non-Hispanic organizations. The chamber serves Lake, Porter and La Porte counties.

Ivy Tech offers real estate license renewal classes

The Ivy Tech Community College Northwest real estate program will provide continuing education for both sales representatives and brokers on Friday mornings in September at the Gary Campus, 1440 E. 35th Ave.

The mandatory and elective courses required for renewing real estate licenses will be offered from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 7, 14, 21 and 28.

The real estate sales pre-licensing class will take place Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to noon beginning Aug. 25. The 54-hour classroom course is designed to prepare students for taking the state of Indiana salespersons license examination. College credit is granted upon completion.

Deadline extended for R.O.S.E. nominations

The Lake County Convention and Visitors Bureau is seeking nominations for outstanding front-line employees for the annual R.O.S.E. (Recognition of Service Excellence) Awards.

The award ceremony will take place Sept. 5 at the Radisson Hotel in Merrillville.

Nomination forms can be completed online at www.lakecountycvb.com or submitted directly to the R.O.S.E. committee for selection. Forms also can be obtained by calling Erika Scheeringa at (219) 989-7770. All nominations must be received by Aug. 17.
