To remain successful, business owners have to adapt to changing times. And that's what Mark Lindemer has done with his new business, Wedding Reception Perfection.

Lindemer, who has owned a disc jockey service, Trans Audio Mobile Music, since 1982, saw the need for couples around the country to learn from his expert advice about what makes a wedding reception fun.

"Trans Audio does 200 weddings per year, so I have been part of planning and performing at more than 6,000 receptions," Lindemer said. "I was finding that I was going through the same information with many of the couples, so I decided to create a Web site that would be available to them 24/7."

Through Wedding Reception Perfection, couples can choose their favorite cocktail and dinner music, select the hottest dance music from thousands of proven party songs, and automatically generate their own custom play lists.

The Web site also offers other valuable information about planning a wedding reception.

"We want brides and grooms to have fun at their reception," Lindemer said. "But for 95 percent of the people, this is the first time they are doing it, and they need a lot of help."

Lindemer believes that music is crucial to the success of any event. He believes a good DJ is responsible for guiding the wedding and helping it flow well, from the introduction and toast to the final dance.

"Music can make or break a wedding," he said. "If the music is great and the DJ is doing his job, the guests stay. If not -- they leave."

To promote the new service, Lindemer has taken ads in trade magazines and approached radio producers to be available for on-air interviews.

"Business is going great," he said. "People are really looking for a way to organize their wedding and tell the DJ exactly what they want."

Since the industry has lists of the top 200 songs at receptions, many weddings have much the same music. But choosing that playlist can be a daunting task.

"Everyone wants their reception to be unique," Lindemer said. "People love the music they grew up with and they want their guests to have fun at the reception."
