Hilltop, Porter Starke form health partnership

Hilltop Community Health Center and Porter-Starke Services have announced a partnership to provide medical services to Porter-Starke clients.

Through this arrangement, Hilltop CHC practitioners will provide primary medical care to Porter-Starke inpatients and clients in their outpatient treatment program and the newly opened methadone treatment program.

Studies have shown that people with chronic mental illness/substance abuse problems have a significantly shorter life expectancy n 25 years less n than people without these conditions. This arrangement aims to improve clients' overall health status and reduce the disparity, officials said.

Hilltop CHC is a nonprofit center that provides a range of medical, dental, and mental health services to people of all ages. Hilltop operates clinics in Valparaiso and Michigan City.

Porter-Starke Services is a nonprofit community mental health center with offices in Valparaiso, Portage, Chesterton, Knox and Aberdeen.
