Chamber presents quarterly round table program
The Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce presents Business Educated Business, a quarterly round table discussion where businesses share ideas and practices. The program is 3 to 4:30 p.m. today at the Hammond INnovation Center, 5209 Hohman Ave.
The theme of this quarter's program is "Business Planning for 2009"

SBA introduces new small business loan program
The U.S. Small Business Administration introduced a new loan guaranty program for small business borrowers. The Small/Rural Lender Advantage program provides capital of up to $350,000.
The program has streamlined applications and processing time by permitting small/rural lenders to use reduced paperwork and a special credit scoring model. These loans are available from smaller community banks and credit unions, including: Ameriana Bank, Centier Bank, Crossroads Bank, Farmers State Bank, First Farmers Bank & Trust, German American Bancorp, Grabill Bank, Old National Bank, The Farmers Bank, Three Rivers Federal Credit Union
There will be information session at 9 a.m. Thursday, at 6:30 a.m. Dec. 4 and at 9 a.m. Dec. 11. The sessions will detail eligibility, how the money can be used and how to apply. Tribune Co. swings to $121.6 million loss in 3Q
Tribune Co., owner of the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune, other newspapers and the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field, says it swung to a loss of $121.6 million for the third quarter as newspaper advertising revenue fell.
The privately held company's net income in the same quarter a year earlier was $152.8 million. Revenue fell 10.5 percent to $1.04 billion, from $1.16 billion a year ago, the company said Monday.
"We are operating in an exceptionally difficult financial and economic environment," Chief Executive Sam Zell said in a statement. "The newspaper industry continues to see extraordinary declines in ad revenues, and Tribune is no exception."

Hoosier Lottery Offices Closed for Veterans Day
Hoosier Lottery offices will be closed today in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.
Hoosier Lottery drawings will occur at their regular times. No other business will be conducted at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters or the six Hoosier Lottery regional offices.
Prizes less than $600 may still be claimed as usual at most Hoosier Lottery retail locations.
Hoosier Lottery offices will re-open Wednesday.
All prizes must be claimed within 180 days after the drawing. Prizes greater than or equal to $50,000 must be claimed at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters. The Hoosier Lottery reminds all players to play responsibly.
