WineStyles opens local franchise

WineStyles, a national franchise, recently opened a store at 2505 LaPorte Ave.

The store, managed by Sheila Jordan, features up to 150 wines from around the world, with most priced at or below $25 per bottle, according to a press release..

The Florida-based company, which has more than 100 locations in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Mexico, was named one of Entrepreneur magazine's Top 50 New Franchises in 2006.

Attorney general warns of telephone scam

Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter is alerting Hoosiers about a telephone scam that attempts to obtain residents' bank account or Social Security numbers and other personal information.

The callers indicate new Social Security cards or free medical cards are being sent and they need to verify information.

If citizens receive a call, they are urged to hang up and report the call to the Indiana Attorney General's Consumer Fraud Division online at www.in.gov/attorneygeneral or by calling 1-800-382-5516.
