Several Indiana companies rank on this year's Entrepreneur magazine's 2007 Hot 500 list. Indianapolis-based on-demand e-mail software company ExactTarget ranks highest among Hoosier companies at 43. The other companies represent Zionsville, Indianapolis and Valparaiso.
Green building seminar focus
Green building is a trend that is starting to catch on with businesses. The Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce will conduct a seminar Friday as part of its Main Street Institute to educate companies on how going green can mean cost savings for the bottom line. Architectural firm Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf says its employees often educate executives, contractors and designers on the benefits of green building. Bill Brown, a partner in the firm, says some companies are even finding that going green can mean better productivity from their employees.
IBDC launches entrepreneur center
The Indiana Business Diversity Council has created the Entrepreneur Resource Center to assist the state's minority-owned businesses. The Web-based tool provides information on business resources, business growth, and accessing new markets. The center can be accessed at www.inbdc.org.
Children's Museum sets video library of exhibits
The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is partnering with the Sanders Group to produce a video library of its museum displays. The museum says the library will allow it to take its exhibits to people who can't visit the museum. The images also will be used to market the museum.
Indianapolis entrepreneur chairman of Cantaloupe
Indianapolis entrepreneur Mark E. Hill, who is also the managing partner for Collina Ventures, has been named chairman and has become an investor in Fishers-based Cantaloupe LLC. Cantaloupe is an online video/permission marketing company.
FSSA names new communications chief
Marcus Barlow has been named director of the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration's Office of Communications and Media. Barlow previously served as press secretary for former Indiana Congressman Chris Chocola. He succeeds Dennis Rosebrough, who now is director of communications for the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
