Graphic designer from The Community Hospital earns national recognition
MUNSTER | A reward for work that is gratifying is a double pleasure Joseph Gonzalez is savoring.
Gonzalez, a graphic artist for marketing and corporate communications at Community Healthcare System, has learned that his graphic design work on the 300-page book, "The Community Hospital -- An Impossible Dream," will be showcased in the pages of the Design Annual in July, by Graphic Design USA magazine.
Gonzalez, a town resident, is being recognized for outstanding work by an inhouse designer as part of the Graphic Design USA's American Inhouse Design Awards competition among marketing departments for nonprofits, government agencies, corporations, universities, and publishing houses.
Gonzalez's work is among 500 pieces selected from more than 5,000 entries nationally.
"The biggest challenge was to make the information as interesting as possible," Gonzalez said.
"As I got into it, and I read the stories, though, I found it interesting," Gonzalez said of the book authored by Jane Bomberger of Munster.
Before joining Community Healthcare System two-and-a-half years ago, Gonzalez, who has seven years in graphic design, was with Moran Design Corp. in Hammond.
