Two companies are going to bring 700 jobs to the state. Technology engineering and information technology services company Zuna Infotech will locate in Kokomo's Inventrek Technology Park and create 400 jobs over the next few years. The company plans to start with 50 workers by the end of this year. A gas grill company is unveiling plans to create 300 jobs in Huntington.

IU to establish faculty chair for Brand

Indiana University President Michael McRobbie will unveil a campaign to create an endowed faculty chair in cancer research in commemoration of the late Myles Brand. The announcement will be made this evening at Conseco Fieldhouse during a public tribute for the university's 16th president. Funding for the Myles Brand Chair in Cancer Research at the IU School of Medicine, Indianapolis will support a biomedical researcher scientist, with expertise in pancreatic and other gastrointestinal cancers.

DePauw honors Angie's List founder

The founder of Indianapolis-based Angie's List has been honored by her alma mater. DePauw University has given the 2009 Robert C. McDermond Medal for Excellence in Entrepreneurship to Angie Hicks. She is a 1995 DePauw graduate. In the past 14 years, Hicks has led the expansion of Angie's List from a 100 square-foot office to an operation covering more than 120 major U.S. cities.

hhgregg expanding in Memphis market

Indianapolis-based hhgregg Inc. plans to open two stores in the Memphis, Tennessee market tomorrow. The new appliance and electronics facilities are located in Memphis and Southaven, Mississippi. The Southaven store is hhgregg's first in that state.

OSHA fines two companies for workplace violations

Two companies are being fined by the Indiana Department of Labor following the findings of major investigations by the state's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Fort Wayne-based Steel Dynamics is being fined $240,000 for a case involving a workplace death at its Jeffersonville plant. King Systems in Noblesville is being fined $191,000 for chemical violations.

Food producer awarded another military contract

Evansville-based AmeriQual Group LLC is being awarded a military contract worth more than $177 million. The company will produce Meal Ready-to-Eat and Humanitarian Daily Ration for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and federal civilian agencies. The U.S. Department of Defense says the contract is expected to be completed by the end of December 2010.

Coachmen post 3Q loss, secures $20 million financing deal

Elkhart-based Coachmen Industries Inc. is reporting a net loss for the third quarter of $3.9 million, compared to a loss of $14.5 million for the same period last year. The company says it has not seen evidence of a housing market rebound this year. Coachmen has also announced a new $20 million financing arrangement and $16 million in new major housing projects.

CTS 3Q profit down

Elkhart-based CTS Corp. is reporting net income of $4.5 million, or 13 cents per share, for the third quarter compared to $7.2 million, or 21 cents per share, for the same period a year earlier. The 2009 results beat analysts' expectations of 7 cents per share for the third quarter.

New Purdue lab to find solutions for aging infrastructure

A new lab at Purdue University has been established to research aging highways, bridges and other infrastructure. Engineers will use the Charles Pankow Concrete Materials Laboratory to develop more durable and environmentally friendly concrete. The lab has been funded with $2 million from a $4.7 million donation from the family of Purdue graduate Charles Pankow.
