Online retailer Amazon.com Inc. is looking to fill positions at its new distribution center in Whitestown, northwest of Indianapolis. The company wants to fill several hundred full-time hourly positions by the center's late summer opening. Amazon also plans to hire 1,700 temporary associates during peak seasons. Open houses are planned for Friday and Saturday at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds Pavilion.
Indiana Sports Corp. hires NCAA liaison
The Indiana Sports Corp. has hired former Butler University Assistant Athletic Director Julie Arnold as the director of NCAA special projects. Arnold also served as senior female administrator at Butler. In her new role, she will be the primary liaison to the NCAA for event bids and operations across various championships. Arnold worked for ISC before joining the Butler Athletic Department.
Grand opening events set for Lucas Oil Stadium
The Indiana Stadium and Convention Building Authority has a series of events planned to celebrate the grand opening of Lucas Oil Stadium. The public is invited to the ribbon-cutting ceremony and to tour the stadium Aug. 16. Fans will have a chance to walk on the field and see nonpublic areas such as a suite and locker room. The first Colts regular season football game is Sept. 7 against the Chicago Bears.
Methodist Hospitals donates computer equipment
Methodist Hospitals Inc., headquartered in Gary, has donated more than $100,000 in computer equipment to the Gary Area Career Center to improve the quality of education in Northwest Indiana. Methodist recently underwent upgrades in its technological infrastructure and had no use for extra routers, switches and Voice Over Internet Protocol phones. The new equipment will help create a pilot class at the center's Cisco Networking Academy this fall.
BASi and Swiftwater Group to expand services
West Lafayette-based BASi and Swiftwater Group LLC out of Arizona have entered into an agreement to expand their services. An Indiana-based health care provider has received a $1.9 million grant from the 21st Century Research and Technology Fund to further develop software that helps physicians care for America's aging population. My Health Care Manager is developing software that will enable care providers to access and input information into a simple, computer-based system.
