PANCAKE BREAKFAST | Crown Point

Crown Point Volunteer Fire Department's ladies auxiliary will host its annual Pancake Breakfast from 7 to 11:30 a.m. today at 126 N. East St. Molley the Trolley will be offering free rides between the fire station, the Hometown Festival Days' Arts and Crafts Show on the square and the Farmer's Market just south of the square. Cost for the meal is $5 for adults, $4 for children and seniors; toddlers 3 and younger eat free. This year's breakfast proceeds will help purchase mannequins for the free CPR training classes off by the department.

OPEN-SKATE | Flossmoor

H-F Ice Arena has open-skate sessions for practice or recreation from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and 8 to 9:30 p.m. Fridays and from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is $6 per person. Families can attend open skate from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sundays. A family of four can skate for $20. Skate rental is available. The H-F Ice Arena, 777 Kedzie Ave., also offers youth hockey leagues, adult hockey leagues and clinics, a women's-only and girls-only hockey team (the H-F Novas), birthday parties and private rentals.

MOTORCYCLE SHOW | Valparaiso

Region 2 ABATE Porter County's 18th Annual Ultimate Bike Show will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at Harley-Davidson of Valparaiso, 1151 Morthland Drive (U.S. 30). Gates open at 9 a.m., with the Blessing of the Bikes at 11 a.m. The 70-mile escorted motorcycle ride will leave after the blessing. There will be food vendors, motorcycle and leather products, a beer garden and children's games. Live music with C-4 will be at 1 p.m., and High Noon will perform from 3 to 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for ABATE members, $12 for nonmembers and free for children 10 years and younger. The motorcycle entry fee for the show is $3. Trophies will be awarded. All proceeds will go to the "All About Kids Program" at Opportunity Enterprises.

BENEFIT RIDE | Hammond

A ride for longtime resident James Hughes is today. Riders start at 11 a.m. at Shortstops, 3949 Hohman Ave. The ride will end at Leroy's Hot Stuff, 333 W. U.S. 20 in Portage. All donations will go directly to Hughes, a U.S. veteran and longtime rider at other benefits, and his family. He was just diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. The event will include raffles, food, music, tip board and door prizes. Motorcycles and cars are welcome. The fee is $10 per person or $15 per couple.

FARMERS MARKET | Whiting

Farm-fresh produce is available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through Oct. 13 on 119th Street in front of City Hall. Find Indiana-grown fruits and vegetables. Aunt Josie's sells homemade Amish goods such as apple and pear butter, jams and jellies, homemade noodles, honey, bee pollen, maple syrup, Amish church butter and homemade toys, tote bags and crafts.
