PLANT SALE | Valparaiso

Friends of Hospice will hold its third annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Windy Ridge Farms, 253 E. County Road 150 South. Friends of Hospice is a committee dedicated to promoting understanding and awareness of hospice as well as raising funds to support the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice program. Last year's plant sale raised more than $2,000. Friends of Hospice welcomes new members.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST | Hobart

M. L. McClelland Lodge No. 357 Free & Accepted Masons will host a pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. today at the Hobart Masonic Lodge, 219 Center St. Young and old are welcome to gather for fellowship and a good meal. A donation of $6 is requested for adults, while only a smile is asked of children 12 and younger.

ANTIQUE SHOW | La Porte

The second Antique Show of 2008 will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the La Porte County Fairgrounds, located on the west side of La Porte at 2581 West Ind. 2. Tickets are $4, and children younger than 12 are free. Dealers from Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin will sell jewelry, furniture, toys, cameras, pottery, holiday items, linens, dolls, books, vintage clothing and so on. One free appraisal will be offered by Larry Sydow, a certified appraiser. The show goes on, rain or shine. Free parking is available, and homestyle cooking is available inside Building One.

FAMILY SOCK HOP | Merrillville

MOMS Club of Crown Point/ Hebron is sponsoring a family sock hop from 2:30 to 4 p.m. today at Spring Mill Health Campus, 101 W. 87th Ave. The event will feature 1950's food, sundaes and desserts, dancing, family photo with frame favor and a raffle. Tickets are $30 for a family up four, and $5 for each additional family member. Proceeds will be used to buy books for area preschools and the Parents as Teachers program of Crown Point.
