Reba McEntire is one spunky and 'tough' entertainer. Pouring rain throughout Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland didn't stop the country superstar from storming the stage Saturday at Ameristar Casino in East Chicago.

Reba delivered a free nearly 90-minute show filled with ballads and catchy country tunes for die-hard fans who braved the rain to see her. The singer began her show promptly at 6 p.m. as the rain slowed to a drizzle and ended the performance at 7:15 p.m. in the midst of a downpour.

"In honor of this day, we're going to call this the umbrella tour," Reba joked, looking out at poncho-clad, umbrella toting fans.

The personable performer frequently addressed her admirers throughout the show. Backed by a powerhouse band, Reba enthusiastically delved into her extensive catalog.

Among tunes on the performance roster were the ballad "Still," the country/rock tinged "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia," "You Lie," "Walk On," the swingy "Little Rock," and the theme song to the "Reba" television show "I'm a Survivor."

Reba's vocals were in superb form that evening and particularly shone on "Because of You," from her "Duets" album and the encore hit "Fancy."

Stalwart fans cheered and shouted for the dedicated entertainer never letting the rain dampen their spirits.

Jolie, Pitt donate $2 million for Ethiopian clinic

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are giving back to the country where their 3-year-old daughter Zahara was born. The couple have donated $2 million to help fight HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in Ethiopia, said the Global Health Committee, which announced the donation by the Jolie-Pitt Foundation. The organization will use the money to build a center in the capital city of Addis Ababa for children affected by the disease and establish a program to treat tuberculosis in children and adults. The center will be named for Zahara. The World Health Organization estimates the African nation has 1.7 million people infected with HIV and 6,000 people infected with drug-resistant tuberculosis. "It is our hope when Zahara is older she will take responsibility of the clinic and continue its mission," Pitt, 44, said in a statement. AP

William to search-and-rescue

Britain's Prince William plans to become a full-time search-and-rescue pilot in the Royal Air Force, royal officials said Monday. The prince's Clarence House office said William would begin an 18-month training program in January. William, 26, learned to fly earlier this year during a stint with the air force. He also has served for several months with the Royal Navy and is an officer in the British army. Clarence House said the second in line to the throne would transfer from the army to the air force, where he will hold the rank of flying officer. If he completes his course, he will fly Sea King helicopters with one of the RAF's six search-and-rescue teams. "The time I spent with the RAF earlier this year made me realize how much I love flying," said William, who was criticized for landing an air force helicopter on his girlfriend Kate Middleton's lawn during his training, and for using another chopper to fly to a bachelor party on the Isle of Wight. "Joining search and rescue is a

perfect opportunity for me to serve in the forces operationally, while contributing to a vital part of the country's emergency services," he said. AP
