Settler's Pond has opened its great pumpkin patch through Oct. 31. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day. The farm has a corn maze, straw maze, graveyards, a petting zoo, mini golf, rides and a resale store and cafe.

HAUNTED HOUSE | Calumet City
Frightmare, the Calumet Memorial Park District's 20th annual Haunted House even will be 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 24 and 25 at the Finneran Poolhouse, corner of Lincoln and Freeland avenues. The fee is $3 per victim. This event is not recommended for young children.

HALLOWEEN PARADE | Lansing
The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 25 and is open to all ages; spectators are welcome. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.; parade starts in the parking lot of Kilroy's, 3502 Ridge Road. Prizes are awarded for the best costumes and participants get a treat bag at the end.
HAUNTED HALLWAY | Lansing
The Haunted Hallway begins at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24, with separate times for different age groups. It gets scarier for the older kids. It is open from 6:30 to 7:15 for ages 5 to 8; 7:20 to 8:05 for ages 9 to 12; and 8:10 to 9 p.m. for ages 13 and older. The cost is $2 per child. From 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the main gym they will have Ghostly Games, which includes carnival-type games. Cost is $5 per child.

SPOOKY SKATE | Flossmoor
H-F Ice Arena will hold its annual Spooky Skating Halloween Party from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at H-F Ice Arena, 777 Kedzie Ave. Activities include costume judging, games, prizes and treats. Fee is $6 or free if dressed in a costume. Skate rental is $4 per person.

HALLOWEEN BONFIRE | Glenwood
Glenwood Parks sponsor festivities beginning at 6 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Arquilla Park Fieldhouse. Children can win prizes by entering a costume contest. A bonfire will be conducted in the park by the Glenwood Fire Department. Treats will be provided for the children in the fieldhouse.
MONSTER MASH | Chicago
The Hegewisch branch of the Chicago Public Library will host Monster Mash from 3 to 4 p.m. Oct. 29 at the library, 3048 E. 130th St. Children of all ages are invited to participate in a special story time celebration of Halloween.

Lowell High School's annual Haunted Trail of Terror will be open from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 25, 28, 29 and 30. More than 30 monsters, ghouls and demons await those who dare take the forested cross-country trail behind the football field and tennis courts on the north side of the school, 2051 E. Commercial Ave. Expect 10 to 20 minutes of terror, depending on how fast you run. Cost is $5.
