Members of the cast of Chicago's "Dirty Dancing" joined members of the Joffrey Ballet on Monday for a special evening of song and dance to celebrate the debut of The Academy of Dance, the official school of the Joffrey Ballet.

The event, a fundraiser for The Joffrey Ballet Scholarship Fund, drew more than 100 people to Chicago's Joffrey Tower at State and Randolph Streets. More than $7,000 was raised during the benefit.

Hosts Britta Lazenga and Gary Lynch, of the "Dirty Dancing" cast, presided over the event, which featured cabaret performances and dance numbers. Among performers were Kaitlin Hopkins, who sang a poignant version of "Brother Can You Spare a Dime," and Molly C. Callinan, who delivered a smashing "Hot Mess Medley" with Rosanna Laguana on guitar. Amanda Leigh Cobb, who stars as Baby in "Dirty Dancing," entertained the crowd with the tune "Stars and Moon."

The show ended fittingly with a performance of the late Gerald Arpino's dramatic "Light Rain," featuring husband-and-wife team Valerie Robin and Samuel Pergande. During the party, guests socialized, enjoyed cocktails and appetizers and bid on various silent auction prizes, including Joffrey Ballet souvenirs, "Dirty Dancing" memorabilia and theater tickets.
