UP | Chicago

Steppenwolf Theatre Company concludes its 2008-2009 season, an exploration of the imagination, by Bridget Carpenter, directed by ensemble member Anna D. Shapiro and featuring ensemble members Ian Barford and Martha Lavey with Rachel Brosnahan, Jake Cohen, Tony Hernandez and Lauren Katz. The play is running through Aug. 23 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre, 1650 N. Halsted. Tickets are $20 to $70. There are 20- $20 tickets are available at Audience Services beginning at 11 a.m. on the day of each performance (1 p.m. for Sunday performances). Half-price rush tickets are available one hour before each show. Student discounts available.

JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT | Cedar Lake

The Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colors comes to vibrant life in this delightful musical parable will be performed July 10, 12, 17, 19, 24 and 26. It is directed by Angie Lowe and performed by L'arc en Ciel Theatre Group at the Great Oaks After 4 Club (on U.S. 41 in Cedar Lake), which features family-style dinners with a cash bar. Dinner 6:30 p.m. Fridays, show 8 p.m.; dinner 12:30 p.m. Sundays, show 2 p.m. Tickets are $30 adults, $27 seniors and $25 children 16 and younger. Reservations requested.

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS | Michigan City

Seymour Krelbourn is a poor young man working at a run-down flower shop on skid row when he encounters a miracle. INTO THE WOODS | University Park

Tickets for the Southland Area Theatre Ensemble's (SLATE) production of "Into the Woods" at Governors State University are now on sale. The show will run at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 14 and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Aug. 15. Tickets are $18 to $21 for adults and $16 to $19 for children 15 and younger.

GSU SUBSCRIPTIONS ON SALE | University Park

The Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University is currently selling subscriptions for its 15th anniversary season, which opens Oct. 3 with Jim Brickman. Among other shows on the roster are Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Los Lobos and Jeff Corwin. Subscribers to three or more shows will receive one free ticket to see Hubbard Street Dance Chicago on Jan. 23. Offer expires Aug. 1. Single tickets for all shows go on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 1.

CHICAGO DANCING FESTIVAL | Chicago

Advance registration is available for tickets to the Chicago Dancing Festival performances for Aug. 18, 19 and 20. While admission is free, tickets are required for the "New Voices," "Modern Masters" and "Artists Up Close," events. Various fest performances take place at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance and the MCA Stage at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
