SENIOR LUNCH | Griffith

The Griffith Senior Citizens Center, 349 N. Indiana Ave., has lunch catered by the Griffith Meat Market at noon Mondays through Fridays. The cost is $3 and reservations must be made one day in advance.

SENIOR DANCING | Merrillville

Dancing for seniors is offered from noon to 2 p.m. Mondays at the Merrillville Senior Center on the north side of Merrillville High School, 276 E. 68th Ave. Lessons are at noon. Senior center hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. All senior citizens invited.

PINOCHLE | Dyer

Dyer senior citizens are looking for pinochle players to participate in games from noon to 3 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays of the month at the Dyer Town Hall's lower-level meeting room, 1 Town Square. Dues are $1 per year and 50 cents on the second and fourth Tuesdays.

LET'S DO LUNCH | Homewood

Looking for a good meal and an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon? Attend the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District's Let's Do Lunch and After-Lunch programs for adults ages 55 and older. Let's Do Lunch features a delicious meal followed by activities such as bingo, movies or informative and entertaining speakers. Lunch is held at noon every Monday and Wednesday at the Irwin Center, 18120 Highland Ave. Fee is $3.25 for residents and $4.75 for nonresidents. Those wishing to attend must call to reserve their spot by noon Friday (for Monday's lunch) or Tuesday (for Wednesday's lunch).

REDEEMER MEETING | South Holland

Men and women ages 55 and older are invited to join other seniors that meet at 1 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, 651 E. 166th St., entrance in the rear of the parking lot. Seniors from various areas in Illinois and Indiana have been meeting in the church fellowship hall since 1976. The senior organization is known as the Redeemer Seniors even though many of its members are from other churches, denominations and communities. Refreshments will be served. Freewill offering, no dues. All are welcome.

Program makes power wheelchairs available to qualified senior citizens and permanently disabled people for no charge. The wheelchairs are available for people who cannot walk or cannot self-propel a manual wheelchair in their home and who meet additional guidelines.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY | Whiting

Whiting-Robertsdale Historical Society Museum houses local historical displays from the turn of the century with facilities for historical and family research. School visits are also welcome at 1610 119th St., Whiting. Hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Admission is free.

SWEET ADELINES | Region

The Calumet Corner Chorus Chapter of Sweet Adelines is looking for ladies who love to sing. Sweet Adelines , International is dedicated to promoting and preserving four-part harmony barbershop singing, a capalla style.The nonprofit, worldwide organization is committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performances. Members come from Porter and Lake counties in Indiana and Chicago's south suburbs. The chorus has many performances throughout the year, singing for organizations, banquets, special occasions, and community events. If you are looking for entertainment for the holidays give us a call. The group rehearses at 7 p.m. Thursdays at Christian Fellowship Church, 605 165th St., Hammond. Guest are always welcome. This could be a new hobby and the chance to make new friends.

SENIOR EVENTS | Glenwood

The Village of Glenwood Senior Center is a place to make new friends and join in playing cards, games, puzzles and chit chat. Blood pressure screenings take place at 10:45 a.m. the second and last Mondays of the month. Knitting and crocheting is from 12:30 to 2 p.m. every Monday. Special programs are offered on Thursdays. The Senior Center is at 1 Rebecca St.
