AMISH ACRES TRIP | Nappanee

The tour on July 10 will feature viewing the musical, "Music Man," playing at the Red Barn Theater. A real farm-style dinner will include ham and bean soup, roast turkey, hickory smoked ham, salad, potatoes, beef and noodles, bread dressing, fresh fruit pie and vanilla nut pudding. There also is a gift shop with home-baked treats and unusual gifts. Cost of this trip is $60. Due to the difference in time zones, a bus will leave Whiting Community Center at 8:30 a.m., and Munster, Calumet Avenue Mall, at 9 a.m. For information, call Berdie Chiluski.

BOWLING EVENT | Highland

The Golden Times Bowling Event will begin at noon on July 22 at Plaza Lanes, 8101 Kennedy Ave. Members will bowl two games and have lunch consisting of a ham, turkey or roast beef sandwich with fries and a soft drink or coffee. Price of $12, to be collected at the event, includes bowling, lunch and shoe rental. For information, call Will Richards.

ANNUAL PICNIC | Highland

The Golden Times annual picnic will take place July 31 at Wicker Park, at the corner of Ridge Road and Indianapolis Boulevard. Events will include games, bingo and prizes. Games will begin at 10:30 a.m. At 12 noon a luncheon buffet catered by Strack & Van Til will include country-style chicken, mostaccioli, baked ham tray, homestyle potato salad, creamy cole slaw, fresh bakery bread with butter and coffee. Price is $8. Tickets are on sale at Citizens Financial locations in Hammond and Munster and also at the Golden Times office. Only Golden Times members may attend. ARCHITECTURE TRIP | Chicago

A Chicago River Architecture Cruise is planned for Aug. 21. Marvel at Chicago's soaring towers while enjoying this 90-minute narrated river cruise. This tour spotlights more than 50 architecturally significant sites. Both open-air and climate-controlled indoor seating will be available. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase on board the vessel. After the cruise, lunch will be served at Manny's Deli with choices of corned beef, turkey or pastrami sandwiches and crisp potato pancakes. Lunch is not included in the price of $38, which only covers the cruise and bus transportation. Bus pick-up will be at 9 am. at the Whiting Community Center and 9:30 a.m. at the Calumet Avenue Mall in Munster. Send checks made out to Golden Times to 2606 Birch Ave., Whiting, IN 46394. ANNUAL CARD AND BUNCO | Schererville

The annual Card and Bunco Party will again be at Teibel's Restaurant, US 30 and 41 on Sept. 30. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon. Ticket price is $15. Prizes will be awarded. Tickets will be on sale at Citizen Financial Banks in Hammond and Munster and also at the Golden Times Office.

GENERAL MEETING | Highland

On Oct. 22, the Golden Times General Meeting will be at Lincoln Center. Elections of new directors for the organization will be held since terms for six of our directors will expire. Please plan to attend. To be eligible for a director position, you must have been a member of the Golden Times for one year.
