HEALTH FAIR | Merrillville
Senior Services will be hosting a free Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 13 at the Merrillville Town Hall, 7820 Broadway. Blood pressure monitoring, balance screening, eye pressure checks and hearing/ear exams will be offered at no cost to senior citizens. Door prizes, giveaways and snacks will be available. Sponsors include Dyna Care, American Physical Therapy, Specialty Eye Care, Affordable Hearing and Home Instead Senior Care. Call to register.

SENIOR YOGA | Portage
The Bonner Senior Center offers senior citizen-geared yoga classes at 9:45 a.m. Mondays at the center, 5800 Lexington Ave. Participants must be 55 years or older and members of the Bonner Senior Center to participate. Membership is $10 per year.

KIWANIS GOLDEN K CLUB | Lansing
Kiwanis Golden K Club meets at 1:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Eisenhower Center. Retirees age 55 and older are welcome. The group holds fund-raisers to help local students and organizations. The club contributes to three high schools, Camp Quality for children with cancer, Twin Lakes Camp for children with handicaps, purchases books for kindergarteners, Key Club at Thornton Fractional South and more. Some group activities include sending gift packs to veterans, reading to students, collecting for the Salvation Army and more.

A chess club for adults meets from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Tuesdays in the cafe at Meijer, on Indianapolis Boulevard just north of Main Street. Tournaments cost $1.

BINGO DINNERS | Lake Station
Enjoy dinner and play bingo on Mondays and Thursdays at American Legion Post 100, 1899 Central Ave. Doors open at 4 p.m., early birds start at 6 p.m., and regular games start at 7 p.m. Various set-ups are available. Coffee and water are free. A two-piece chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, butter and roll is $3 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Hammond's Lost Marsh Golf Course is open for the season, with adult fees ranging from $5 for seniors playing the par-3 course on a weekday to nonresidents paying $53 to play the 18-hole championship course on a holiday. Carts and a variety of options for daytime and evening play are available.

JOBS FOR SENIORS | Indiana
Low-income Hoosiers 55 and older who want to work but can't find a job can get assistance from Experience Works. Paid training assignments and job-placement services are available for those unemployed, retired and wanting to return to work, or who have never had a job. Experience Works will pay a worker's wages while they learn new job skills at a community service organization, then help the worker prepare a resume and go for interviews. Experience Works has helped thousands of Hoosier seniors get jobs.

NEW SENIOR SERVICES | Merrillville
Merrillville Clerk Treasurer Eugene M. Guernsey has created a new department within the clerk treasurer's offices at the Merrillville Town Complex, 7820 Broadway. Senior Services, a nonprofit service and an all-volunteer operation, will provide information, literature and guidance to Merrillville seniors.
