SENIOR PET PROGRAM | Munster

The Humane Society Calumet Area, 421 45th St., is offering a $50 discount to anyone older than 60 years old when they give a shelter animal a "forever home." This makes the price of a dog (older than 6 months) only $50 and a puppy (younger than 6 months) for $100 or a cat (older than 6 months) $20 and a kitten (younger than 6 months) $50. Pet interaction with seniors has shown to improve life quality for both animal and owner.

SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM | Hammond

Greater Hammond Community Services and Hammond Parks & Recreation invite seniors 60 or older from the Greater Hammond Area to attend the Senior Nutrition Programs, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the Hammond Civic Center, 5825 S. Sohl Ave. The program provides an opportunity for seniors to participate in socialization, activities and a meal that provides one-third of the daily nutrition requirements. The cost is $2 per day. Sohl Ave. The cost is 50 cents and membership is required. On the first Thursday of every month, a Pinochle Tournament is hosted at the Hammond Civic Center from 1 to 3 p.m. for $3. Dyer senior citizens are looking for pinochle players to participate in games from noon to 3 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays of the month at the Dyer Town Hall's lower-level meeting room, 1 Town Square. Dues are $1 per year and 50 cents on the second and fourth Tuesdays.

LET'S DO LUNCH | Homewood

Looking for a good meal and an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon? Attend the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District's Let's Do Lunch and After-Lunch programs for adults ages 55 and older. Let's Do Lunch features a delicious meal followed by activities such as bingo, movies or informative and entertaining speakers. Lunch is held at noon every Monday and Wednesday at the Irwin Center, 18120 Highland Ave. Fee is $3.25 for residents and $4.75 for nonresidents. Those wishing to attend must call to reserve their spot by noon Friday (for Monday's lunch) or Tuesday (for Wednesday's lunch).

REDEEMER MEETING | South Holland

Men and women ages 55 and older are invited to join other seniors that meet at 1 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, 651 E. 166th St., entrance in the rear of the parking lot. Seniors from various areas in Illinois and Indiana have been meeting in the church fellowship hall since 1976. The senior organization is known as the Redeemer Seniors even though many of its members are from other churches, denominations and communities. Refreshments will be served.
