Wellness Astrology column by Ted PanDeva Zagar
Tall (6 feet 5 inches), gentle and intelligent (Harvard University, class of 1951), Fred Gwynne donned bright violet greasepaint and slipped into 4-inch elevator shoes to become the lovable Frankenstein clone on TV's popular series, "The Munsters." Older Boomers will recall Gwynne playing an earlier comedic role (as Officer Francis Muldoon) on "Car 54, Where Are You?"
Gwynne was born on July 10, 1926, in New York. His chartwheel depicts Earth as a circle in the center surrounded by a sky divided into 12 Houses. The 1st House starts at the eastern horizon, with the western horizon starting the 7th House. The 10th House cusp is the point directly overhead. Lacking a time of birth, I constructed a sunrise chart, placing the Sun on the cusp of the 1st House.
Because Cancer (June 22-July 22) is launched on the Summer Solstice -- the northern hemisphere's longest day of the year -- it relates to nurturing, mothering and providing sustenance in abundance. Thus, the Crab governs the breasts, mammary glands, stomach, digestive capacity, insulin-producing pancreas and the elbows.
Gwynne was a "New Moon" baby, born when the lunar orb makes its once-a-month pass near our solar system's star performer, the Sun.
Joining the Sun and Moo n in Cancer (17 and 22 degrees, 1st House) is far-flung Pluto (14 degrees, 12th House), the sphere that reigns over the deep transformational processes of birth, death and rebirth.
This trio of Cancerian spheres gave Gwynne a vulnerable pancreas from birth. On July 2, 1993 -- during the month of the Crab and only eight days before his 67th birthday -- the popular actor succumbed to pancreatic cancer.
Gwynne was one of only a handful of performers capable of transforming an otherwise frightening character of fiction into a charming presence welcomed even by children into millions of living rooms.
Stand tall for worthy endeavors and know that love is the brightest star!
