PILATES | Lansing

A Pilates Sculpt class is taking place at the First United Methodist Church in Lansing. The class focuses on strengthening the major muscles while increasing flexibility through the use of specialized movements. Emphasis is placed on stabilizing the Core muscles (abs and back) to improve posture and enhance functionality of the body while "toning" the major muscles, at 7:30 p.m. Mondays and 6 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays. Beginners welcomed.

SIGN UP FOR STATE HEALTH INSURANCE | Merrillville/Gary

About 870,000 Hoosier residents at any point in time are without health insurance. In response, Methodist Hospitals is enrolling applicants in the state-funded health insurance programs, including Healthy Indiana Plan, every Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Northlake Campus in Gary and Southlake Campus in Merrillville. Applicants should bring the following: birth certificate, proof of one's income, immigrant status, proof of pregnancy, name of everyone in household, social security card of everyone in household, date of birth of everyone in household and valid picture ID.

CHOLESTEROL SCREENING | Hebron

Porter Road to Wellness will provide total cholesterol screenings by appointment only from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 4 at Hebron Public Library, 201 W. Sigler St. Participants must fast for 12 hours prior to the test. The cost is $30.
