Emilio Torres said he's come full circle by landing his new job.
Torres told The Times on May 30, he was officially introduced as Bishop Noll's new volleyball coach at the Warriors' spring sports banquet.
Torres, a native of Puerto Rico and resident of Steger, Ill., said his late wife, Amy Louise, and his brother-in-law, Todd Sosnowski, are Bishop Noll graduates, so he feels at home when he's at the Catholic school in Hammond.
"I really like the small program, the small school," Torres said. "I think you can do a lot there.
"You can really work with it, and I think the parents are also supportive.
(Parents are) really important to the success of the program, and I think Bishop Noll has that. I saw that at the sports banquet."
Torres has several years of coaching and playing experience. He is a coach for Diamond Elite Volleyball Academy and a former assistant at T.F. South. He was also a member of Puerto Rico's Junior National Team in the mid-1980s.
