CANDLELIGHT BOWL | Highland
A candlelight bowl to benefit Camp Quality, Illinois will take place at 10 p.m. March 29 at Plaza Lanes, 8101 Kennedy Ave. It is sponsored by Knights of Pythias Lake Co. 215. Camp Quality is a camp and year-round support organization for children with cancer. Tickets are $25 per person and are only sold in pairs. This includes three games, shoe rental, food and pop. Bowlers must be 18 or older. Nonbowlers can attend for $10 per person, which includes food and pop. There will be raffles and door prizes. Tickets are sold available in advance.

PAMPERED WOMEN | Hammond
Make plans with "the girls" and set aside next weekend to attend the Pampered Woman Show at the Jean Shepherd Community Center, 3031 Mahoney Drive. Hours are 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. March 29 and 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. March 30.This popular show features a myriad of products and services for women. Massages, manicures, pedicures, facials, makeup consultations, a fashion show and a variety of demonstrations and vendors round out the show. Admission is $5.

CHELA BENEFIT | Highland
A benefit is planned for March 28 in the lower lounge at Chela's Restaurant, 3325 45th Ave. Maricela Salinas-Martinez, the owner of Chela's Restaurant, died earlier this month after a long battle with leukemia. Proceeds from the event will help pay expenses. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the all-ages show, which features Northwest Indiana's own Tomorrow Has Arrived, as well as other bands. Tickets cost $8 per person and will be collected at the door. Donations also will be accepted. Guest deejays will perform after the show. A resident of Highland, Salinas-Martinez opened the business in Griffith about eight years ago, and it moved to its current location four years ago.

EASTER BUNNY | St. John
The Easter Bunny will visit Steeple Gallery from 1 to 3 p.m. March 22. Visitors may bring cameras to take photos with the Easter Bunny. Admission is free. Families and pets on leashes are welcome. UNDERGROUND RAILROAD | Hammond
Students and community members can take a historical journey that retraces one of the routes of the Underground Railroad, May 2-3. The Purdue University Calumet Ethnic Studies program will host The Train to Freedom journey. Cost is $210 per person. The deadline to register is April 1. Roy Hamilton, Purdue Calumet assistant vice chancellor for educational opportunity programs, said the trip is intended to be educational and enjoyable. Participants travel on a luxury tour bus equipped with monitors and DVD/VCR. Cost includes four meals (two breakfasts and two dinners), guided tours and one-night hotel accommodations based on double-room occupancy. HUB RUN | Crown Point
Southlake YMCA will host its 28th Annual Hub Run 5K/2K race at 1 p.m. April 6 at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 889 S. Court St. Entry fee is $15, and $8 for each additional family member, until March 28, and $8 for all children in grade and younger until March 28. Fee is $20 for each participant after March 28. Race applications are available at the Southlake YMCA, 1450 S. Court St., or can be downloaded at www.slymca.org. Proceeds help low-income families and individuals participate in YMCA membership and programs.

DINNER CRUISE | Munster
Munster Parks and Recreation Department offers a pre-derby April 25 to 27 at Churchill Downs. Participants will be picked up at home and ride to Louisville, Ky., for a dinner cruise on the Ohio River. Lodging is at the Holiday Inn Lake View in Clarksville, Ind. The next day, they'll visit the Kentucky Derby Museum, experience a 360-degree presentation, a walking tour of Churchill Downs and thoroughbred horse racing. That night includes a dinner and show at the Derby Dinner Playhouse. The following day includes a city tour and lunch at Huber's Farm Restaurant before returning home. The cost includes motorcoach transportation, accommodations, six meals and $15 Travlchecks.

FARM HORSES | National Lakeshore
Visit Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore's Chellberg Farm to learn how important horses were on an old-time farm. See a team of draft horses working the Chellberg Farm fields during Horsing Around: Behind the Plow from 1 to 3 p.m. March 23 and April 12, weather permitting. Meet at the Chellberg Farm barn. Park in the Bailly/Chellberg lot and walk the short path to the barn. The Bailly/Chellberg parking lot is between U.S. 12 and U.S. 20 on Mineral Springs Road.
