Officers from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the LaPorte County Sheriff's Department arrested a man Saturday night on suspicion that he shot at a semitrailer on Interstate 90, according to a news release. Police said when they took the suspect into custody, they discovered a marijuana growing operation.

Police arrested 53-year-old Gregory Dosmann, of the 33000 block of Auten Road in New Carlisle in St. Joseph County, the release said.

Police believe Dosmann fired a rifle and its ammunition struck the windshield and shattered the passenger side window of a semitrailer traveling eastbound on Interstate 90, or the Indiana Toll Road, on Saturday night. The release said Dosmann told police he took two shots from his back porch, but they were at deer. In searching Dosmann's home, police said he had several pounds of dried marijuana, marijuana plants and plant growing equipment.
